 This William Smith traces back through every census is consistant with his birth place every time. He tracks right back to 1851 where here he is with his father and mother and siblings.

    In the 61 William is living with Charles and family as nephew age 19 in Stratton

    In the 71 living with Cornelius and wife in Chilfrome Dorset...always born Woodsford

          now am on the trail of who John was to him

Is john also in the census? Maybe he is a brother of William?

 I would think that it is West Wittering, Sussex and Wool is after Wareham on the Weymouth or Swanage Road in Dorset. Incidentally Sarah A Smith, Williams wife states that she comes from Corfe Castle in all other census's which is not too far away. Maybe the link is there and not with William!
