Thanks to all for you help.  When I started this thread, I guess I just didn't realize that the first name George was as common as the first name Edward.

But you have only two, one born in England, the other in Illinois!

It's when you have a father called George with 6 sons (only one of whom is George, fortunately) all living in the same village, all marrying an Elizabeth, and all naming their eldest son after their father. That's common!!

You do have point.  However, my great-grandfather's name was Edward Rutter.  One of their, Edward and  Eliza-Elizabeth sons was named Edward.  In 1864 they had another son and named him, my grandfather, Edward.

David and all, not to belabor the point, but I am trying to find if Richard or George Rutter left any decendents here.  I am the youngest grandson of Edward Rutter born 1864.

So what's your point?

I am sure that George and his family that Indiapaleale found for you in 1920 and 1930 will have left descendants. Living in France I don't have a clue as to where to look for 20th century Americans or what records are available in Illinois - local BMD records, SSDI, obituaries in local newspapers, telephone directories, voter lists etc - but in any event I categorically do NOT look for living people, nor do I believe that that is the purpose of Rootschat.

Hectoring us to find your possible living US second cousins is counter productive. What are YOU, living in the USA,  doing to find your relations who live in the the USA? You are much better placed geographically to do this sort of research than we are in Europe

And posting details of living or potentially living people is against Rootschat policy.
