Hall - Mill Green, Linton, Shudy Camps
« on: Saturday 01 April 06 19:31 BST (UK) »
Tracing Hall family from Linton, Cambridgeshire. So far got back to David Hall (b: circa 1842) and married Jane Brazier (b: circa 1843) in approx 1863.  David Hall's father was John Hall (b: circa 1810) and mother Belinda ________ (b: circa 1812) fromGestingthorpe, Essex.

Any further info greatly appreciate.

How do I trace before 1837?
Morris, Purssey - Chertsey, Loring, Hall(s) - Cambridgeshire, Corder, Brazier - Cambridgeshire, Miller, Rosewell, Powell, Leach, Dacey, Doyle - Ireland, Hancock, Good - Hampshire, Blake - IoW, Yeakes, Whiting, Bradman, Stubbing, Hodd, Tutt, Thompson, Adley.

Welcome to RootsChat.

Cambs FHS has an excellent website at
http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html
which has a number of indexes which should help you. It also has transcriptions of many (most/all?) Cambs parish registers for sale.

Presumably you are aware of the IGI which is found at www.familysearch.org, but you should only rely on controlled extracts, not member submissions.

Microfilm copies of many parish registers are available for viewing from your nearest LDS Family History Centre - see previous link for a list of Centres.

Many thanks for your help Bedfordshire Boy - I will have a look.

As I go back further it gets more exciting.  :D

Yes I have looked on www.familysearch and the www.freebmd website and also www.1837online.  Its annoying when you know family members exist but you keep getting "0 records found".

FreeBMD has not completed transcribing the GRO indexes yet, but they are available (free at the moment, unlike 1937 online) at www.ancestry.co.uk. Just click on England and Wales BMD Index (Beta)

Many parishes in Cambs have not been transcribed onto the IGI, which may explain why you get nil results.
