Help with a translation needed
« on: Saturday 01 April 06 22:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am really sorry if this is the wrong board to use, but could someone help with the following translation.

I have a beautiful traditional song on cd with the title of "Suo Gan" and I would love to know what it means.

Many many thanks for your help.

Regards

I'm Irish and had never heard of it so I just had to look it up and reply to you...... the words are beautiful ...

Hope this helped! (and hope I'm right!)..

Hi Karen

Many, many thanks for this.

I sit here researching my tree and keep pressing the repeat button to hear it again.  It really does help me to relax.

Take care

Hi

There are alot of songs and records that I like but I can honestly say that not one of them has grabbed me like this has.

I just wish my Rooneys in Ireland were so easy to find.

They came over to Cumberland between 1854-56 but do not know from which county or port..................

My dad has always made a joke of us being from common stock but I don't think even he realised what a common name Rooney is in Ireland.  Its worse than Jones in Wales (lol)

Fadhb ar bith! (no problem!)

My husband's name is Quinn!  He's a New Zealander and last night I just 'might' (fingers/toes/arms crossed) have found someone who might have info on his ggggrandfather.....  I haven't come across any Rooneys .. but if I do I'll remember you..

Sonas Ort!

Slan!

Le gach beannacht (kind regards), Karen

A reference of a Rooney on the Great Grandmother
thread on the Lighter Side would be a welcome addition.

It never hurts to have a tiny touch of Emerald  & Shamrocks on any thread
