Thanks Sidsmith
Many of the names are very similar to George's children so I'm pretty sure these are the right family.
Thanks heaps.

Could Wakefield possibly have been known as Wakey Valley? George and the witness to his and Ellen's wedding both lived at Wakey Valley. and I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Hi
Would someone mind checking  the SA deaths cd if there is a death which could be Kate Briggs (nee Duiett) wife of John Briggs?  I guess that she and John would have been born around 1800 - 1810.
I'll order death certs for the likely candidates- it is the only way that I can think of sorting out where they came from and their children's names.
Thanks Chris

Hi Chris.

No death record in S.A. for Kate/Cath/Catherine/Katherine Briggs
but there is one in NSW

I think you said that George went to NSW, perhaps she also went
to NSW after her husbands death?

Thanks Mike
I've seen that entry before but haven't ordered it because I thought that she would have died in SA as none of the Young rellies knew anything about John and Kate.  I'll order the death cert for the NSW catherine Briggs today.
Thanks heaps for your help - I feel as though I'm finally getting somewhere with this lot now - a few good leads to follow up!

ciao Chris

Hi
If the NSW Kate isn't the one I 'll check the Ann who died in SA in 1867 aged 71.
All of the info that I have on Kate Duiett is from son George Briggs' death cert.

George was 82 when he died and info for the death cert was provided by his 34 yo son.  Maybe this son didn't know much about his grandmother and got the name wrong.

The NSW Bridget death cert may also have further info.  Thanks everyone for your  help I'll let you know how I get on.
ciao Chris

Hi
Got the death cert for Bridget Briggs from Grafton whose parents were John and Kate.  No match unfortunately.  Bridget's married name was Briggs and parents were John Malone and Kate (surname unknown).

Happy to pass the death cert on to a good home :)
ciao

hi there
just a thought if you have george"s birth place in england
and his mother and fathers names perhaps you could post in the uk section for leictershire spelt wrong to seee if someone has the 1841 census as they didnt arrive here until 1848 you just might pick them up from that it could be worth a try

Hi Jenn
I've asked about George+ family and the 1841 census on a leics list that I'm on but didn't  get any takers. The 1841 census should be the place to find them.  I have a subs to  ancestry UK & the 1841 census is supposed to be up by the end of April so I should really wait until then and do the work myself.
ciao Chris
