thanks MJP.
I wonder if there were any George Edwin Slaters from the Staffordshire area ??? Their father originated from Burton-on-Trent.
It's possible that he married and went back there; the only thing is, he was listed as being in the welsh regiment, which I believe recruited in South Wales.

Hi Harribobs
George Edwin is listed as killed in 1915.
I was unable to find him with his family (parents) or in the district in 1901.
I'm having to go off line now, other commitments.
Frank.

Hi Frank,

Don't know if you have this already:

RG13/5210/14/18
Llyfanod, Brynford, Flintshire
Barbara Slater, Head, 22, Single, Housekeeper to Father, b. Denbigh
Earnest Slater, Brother, 10, b. Flints Caerwys
Thomas Slater, Brother, 3, b. "

And am assuming you already have parents John and Hannah and rest of kids in Llanwrst.  Let me know if you need that one in full too...

Hi MJP. and Manmack
Thank you for your research; yes I do have the family fromLlyfanod, and thereby lies anothher mystery that I have still not got to the bottom of; the family were always told that Thomas was not a real brother, but was found on the doorstep; I have posted a lot on the Staffordshire site where I got a lot of help way back around Sept-Oct, and a few Queries sinceand have found that he was related but can't make the connection yet; I printed off 18 A4 pages at that time, and I do have his birth certificate now.
The family lived at Caerwys nr Brynford before moving to Llanrwst, but I have failed to find George Edwin after 1891.
The suggestion made by Manmack that he may have died after being discharged from the army sounds a very valid point, and is worth looking into, thanks for the help of you both.

Hi,
I have just come across your enquiry about George Edwin. I live in Trefriw which is just across the river to Llanrwst. The information I've pieced together about Gerge Edwin goes as follows:

1.  the 1901 census shows that there is a George Edwin Davies married to Catherine J Davies lived next door to John E  Slater , Hannah Slater and the rest of the Slaters.
2.The ages for George and Catherine are 20, right age
3. Catherine came from Denbigh.

Brothers Ernest and Bertram died in action in Gallipoli in 1915(RWF)
On Trefriw war memorial is George Edwin Slater  died also 1915 (Welsh Regiment)

Records showed that George Edwin Davies died in 1915 of the Welsh Regiment, could be the same person age 34 is right and his wife Catherine Davies lived at Denbigh at this time.

I am writing this on my friends PC . If you require more info please ring me on **
