The expense of doing it the old way with Overseas Money Orders is over. There is about a 40 cent charge for foreign currency conversion with Visa and just the conversion rate for the 7 pound on the day. Lately mine are about $17 so that is good value I think. They give you a despatch date when you apply and it usually arrives within a week  of that date or even sooner.
