My little red exercise book!
« on: Tuesday 04 April 06 11:06 BST (UK) »
When I first got into my family history (about aged 8 ) , my sister and I had a red exercise book that we wrote down all the separate lines and stories in. We kept it going until I was about 14.

I remember seeing it at home (even now, I always think of home as where my parents lived) about 25 years ago but neither of us can find it among our 'bits'  now. I can remember most of the contents but I would really like to get hold of the same kind of exercise book - even a scan of front and back would do - for my website.

Any of you remember those exercise books - they were shiny red with a texture. On the front in black letters was 'Exercise book' and space to write your name. On the back there were various conversion tables and at the bottom a row of the 11 multiplication tables.

Anyone have any ideas where I could get one or an image of one from please?

Brought bacl memories :) :) :) The red ones had like a shiny watermark that shimmered when you moved the book and you had to buy them yourself as the school ones were a dull blue :D
Have tried to find them on google without success, but am pretty sure they are still in the corner newsagent shops today.

Thanks Nessie

Like you I'd searched on Google and came up with nothing. Those corner newspaper shops are getting scarcer  :(
I was hoping that someone in the great RC world might have one that could be scanned/photographed.
Oh well, I'll keep looking.
I'm now thinking that mine might have been part of the soggy stuff that was destroyed when our house was flooded 6 years ago :'(

I didn't have any luck trying to save the image that comes up but if you go to the heritage page they have a photo on the top that you could borrow!

That's the one Steph. Thanks  :o :o

I'm thinking of e-mailing the company to see if they have a back cover as well - or offer to buy just one!
