The Mans Birth lists Arthur Clarence Dave. The marriage and sons birth both list him as Clement Arthur so that appears to be what he was known as. If you google about he seems to be listed as Clement also. Death of son also lists Clement

I'm glad you had a good Christmas     I too am back home having spent Christmas with my daughter's family.   Had a great time and now looking forward to my son's return from the southern hemisphere.

Thanks for the information on the Hawkes - it's really quite overwhelming     I now have loads of pages to enter on the tree.   As time goes on you will see them entered on my www link.

For the present I think I have sufficient to keep me out of trouble for this year at least     I hope you have a great New Year and many thanks once again.

Hi Kris,

Thanks again  I've a query on the marriage of Ethel Pearl Hawke b. 26 Aug 1893 at Kapunda, dau of William Hawke and Ruth Dew.   I had her down as marrying a David Barrett on 26 Apr 1913 at Alberton.    Can you confirm that she married David Sowter?   If she did I know an Australian lady who'll be a bit confused  'cos she has a photo of her marrying said Barrett.

The marriage lists David Frank SOWTER = Ethel Pearl HAWKE 26 Apr 1913 Res Rev L B Fletcher Alberton.

The births of both children list their name as SOWTER so I doubt we are talking about a mistranscription here or the childrens birth would list then as Barrett Reginald lists father as Frank David SOWTER Avis lists father as Frank SOWTER.

Could he have changed his name later...seems a bit odd if she has a pic but as I said if it is mistranscribed then the children would list as Barrett not Sowter.

There are no children born to a Barrett-Hawke alliance. There are no children born listing a father as David Barrett. There is one born listing a Frank Barrett as father and mother Ida WEST that is Ronald 27 Feb 1919 Adelaide. (Marriage not sighted) Sorry can't see anything else that looks likely.

Finally there is no birth of a David/Frank SOWTER or BARRETT in SA

Dave I just see site on net and they have husband as David William BARRETT yet the same date I have provided....How Bazaar    and the two Children I have given you also listed as BARRETT yet same dates. Library is shut this week but I see they list Avis died 1918 and David died 1951 in SA so I will check those entries when I can next week. I dont have the later deaths. I am curious now cas I just can't see three separate entries could be mistranscribed in the same way so why does this person have them listed as Barrett along with a 3rd child I cannot see. Still they say Ethel died in Vic in 1944. In the meantime I will check that one out on the Oz board.  Kris

Hi Kris,

I've been following your chatting with interest - seems to have caused quite a stir     It's most odd that the wedding(s) took place on the same day in the same place with the same bride.   I'll send you a PM so you can see where the Barrett info came from.
