Hi Fitty,

Very interested to see that in your list of names you had an Emily Lapish.
My gr grandma was also an Emily Lapish from Woodhouse, but she died in 1960 aged 93.  As Lapish is not a common name, I wondered if you had any other details?  For some reason, I was not able to view your site.

99% of the graves were smashed up and used as foundations for the present-day field for students to play and picnic on sadly!

relatives were not pro-actively contacted

the University claims to have photographed all gravestones before destroying them but claims a mysterious fire destroyed them in the 1970s (although they have no evidence of this), and that the copy at GRO 'cannot currently be found' - I have contacted the GRO and they said this is a lie!

Howard,

Although I cannot help you regarding photographs of headstones located in Woodhouse Cemetery, Leeds.  I do have access to a transcript of some of the burial registers  for Woodhouse Cemetery and would be more than happy to take a look for you if you could supply me with names and if possible year of death.

Best Wishes
CJL

Hi CJL

Hope you do not mind if I ask where do you get your transcriptions for burials at Woodhouse Leeds? I'm looking for the burial of Hannah Maria Winterbottom 13 Jan 1869. I know the date but don't know other details and have no source for this burial.

Hi Karen,

I can see that the details you are searching for have been found and posted for you.  If you are looking for any other burials which took place at Woodhouse Cemetery, Leeds the following website contains a a searchable database of numerous cemeteries within the Leeds area including Woodhouse Cemetery.  www.yorkshireindexers.info   It is a subscription database but the yearly subscription is only
about £10/£12.

I am a transcriber for the website so have transcribed various burial registers including some of the registers for Woodhouse Cemetery.

If I can be of any help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Wishes
