Richard. H. Bennett
« on: Friday 07 April 06 16:53 BST (UK) »
Thanks to Nicky for her excellent work on James Bennett & the Singer family, now trying to find who Richard.H.Bennett married he was born 1872 we think she may have been a Singer (this being her surname not profession) she was known in the family as Suzie Singer and thought to be related to the Singer sewing machine family.
Not certain if I am posting this in the correct area as the Bennett family originated in the Dorset area but later moved to Windle near St Helens?.
Algy.

Hi Algy,

Is the the one born Lancashire Standish ca. 1872? (or rather 1869 probably: Lancashire BMD has a birth registered in Standish for a Richard Henry Bennett in 1869)

If so, I see him married to an Elizabeth age 33 born Dorset Sherborne on the 1901 census  ???

FreeBMD give a 100% coverage for the years we are searching (between 1891 when he's single and 1901).

The nearest I can find is:
Richard Henry Bennett to Jessie Langley or Hannah Elizabeth Willis in Dec 1893 Prescot 8b 975

Very interestingly, there is a Bessie Willis age 24 born Sherborne Dorset working as a waitress at the Fleece Hotel in 1891 (= in the same household as Richard Henry). My money is on her!!

(There's also a Sarah Singer, but he doesn't seem to marry her  ;D )

Tanja, thanks for the research, I dont know where we would be without the likes of you, Nicky and the others in Rootschat you provide a sterling service to the likes of myself. I think you are spot on regarding Bessie Willis being Richards wife, thats the way I am proceeding.
Thanks again,
Algy. :)
