1861 census lookup please - Faraday
« on: Monday 11 October 04 18:24 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me find a missing father and son:

Christopher Waller Faraday born c.1796, Ingleton, West Riding. He isn't given as deceased on his son's marriage certificate from 1870, but I'm not convinced!
Thomas Faraday born c.1828 (but lies about his age a lot!), born Bentham or Ingleton or Clapham (probably Bentham).

On the 1871 census I have Thomas as a farmer of 40 acres in Cold Cotes, Ingleton. This is a tiny hamlet with only one street.

On the 1841 census I have the family at Hill Top, Bentham:

Piece 1319/6 Page 10
Bentham Parish Part
Hill Top
Christopher Faraday 45 yrs Farmer,
Thomas 12, Rebecca 10, Isabella 6, Mary 5.
All born in county

I'm hoping that they are at one of these two addresses in 1861, but they are probably on Mars, and lying about their ages to the Martians.

Many thanks,

Hannah

Fitty, you're a star! ;D

You've found his vanishing sisters!! (I lost them after 1841 and hadn't found any marriages!)

Thanks so much!

More !!!! for good measure! (my hubby thinks I'm cracked now!)
