Listen to Chris - he is always right. It also shows that the original is more likely to be accurate than a transcript.
One thing that I have found has served me well - a wise man for whom I worked once told me "If you are in Hampstead and you hear the sound of hoofs, think "Horses" and not "Zebras"? - the most probable explantion is most often right.

Looks like "lift attendant" to me. " Am I the only one who is old enough to remember "lift attendants" ? ::)
