We agree with the very first message on this Topic.

After searching for a Family History Program for many years, we finally settled on 'GENBOX'

We have been using 'GENBOX', since July 2004, and are very happy with the results.  Upgrades are available from the website.  There is also a comparison chart of features and capabilities, with five other Family History Programs.

We first purchased a CD copy from 'Gould Genealogy', in South Australia, (www.gould.com.au).  They have a link on the 'GENBOX' website (http://www.genbox.com).  Other links included are for two U.K. suppliers, and can also be purchased on-line.  It certainly is worth a visit to the website.

A quick glance at this thread and the best choices from most people seem to be either Family Historian or Roots Magic.  Is one of these two better than the other?  i.e. are there some things one offers that the other doesn't?  Does each program have its own website that you can upload your tree to and if so, is one site better than the other in, for example, putting you in touch with other people who may have info on relatives?  Sorry if these answers are already on this or another thread but this one alone is longer than the national deficit and by the time I'll have read it all it would be time for me to send to GRO for my own death certificate.

PS Oops! Actually, this one isn't long at all but I followed it from one of several threads that would take some time reading!
