Watchet.Where do I go from here??????

Please Please,could someone give me some advice,as to where do I go from here.
Im really stuck on this one.

On the 1841 census,Living in Watchet,Somerset
I have found a William Webber aged 10,
living with

Elizabeth Webber age 75  Occ.looks like laundress.
Charlotte Webber age 28
Harriott    Webber age 14
William     Webber age 10. my William?

I have found a birth listing Charlotte Webber as mother to William,no fathers name.
Could William have been illegitamate?
I know he married Mary Ann Hobbs in 1853,so would it be a good idea to obtain marr.cert.
It should hopefully have a fathers name on marr cert.
If not,what would be the next step?

I think it's very likely he was illegitimate.  You could do one of 2 things to prove it:

If you live in the area you could check the FHL microfilm at the library

If not - you could send for a copy of his marriage cert but put a condition on it that you only want it if there is a fathers name shown for him.  If you apply to the GRO, they will charge a £3 search fee if no father is shown or £7 if there is one and they issue a certificate

If you apply direct to the local registrar of wherever they married - there will be no charge for a failed search

I need to get his marriage cert anyway,his wifes info might help me a little further .
