i have found him on the 1901 and his parents on the 1891.i couldnt find any thing on the 1881 census and i am hoping some kind sole can help me find his father daniel born 1845 born  favington devon and mother charlotte1845
it would be nice to see them in the 1871 census so that i can try  to go back to the 1841 census

Have you discounted this sighting?

1881 Census of Littleham, Devon
RG11/2138 folio 86 page 22
"Fore Street"
Daniel C Salter, head, 36, general labourer, born Farringdon Devon
Mary Ann C Salter, wife, 38, born Broad Clyst Devon
Daniel C Salter, son, 14, errand boy, born Exmouth Devon
John C Salter, son, 7, scholar, born Exmouth Devon
Lucy C Salter, daughter, 10, scholar, born Exmouth Devon
Mary Ann C Salter, daughter, 5, scholar, born Exmouth Devon

[Source: familysearch]

Clearly the family were in Exmouth ten years earlier, so that would be a good place to look in the 1871 Census

Was Charlotte possibly Daniel's second wife?  Or was she Mary Ann Charlotte Salter?

Cheers
Dave

There is someone researching the surname Salter as a one name study

http://www.one-name.org/

You could try them first to see if they have any further information.
