Hi JoT,

Could you kindly do me a look up for Logie - particularly interested in SMITH.

Also looking for a Robert Smith who died between 1806 (birth of son) and 1841 (his widow appears in Census) - possible locations are Logie, Kilmany or Dairsie.

Thank you.

Hi Jo,

I wonder if you could look up WISHART in Cults churchyard. I was up there this summer and expected to find lots. Unfortunately, the only ones I found didn't appear to be mine :(

Many thanks

Hello-if you-or anyone elso-still has a copy of the MI book, could you possibly look up Terras/Tayrus (and other variants) in the following:
Balmerino  (expect to find a James Terras there, with wife May Henderson)
Kilmany
Forgan (I know there is at least one Terras grave there-James, Margaret and 3 of their children)

Thank you.

Many thanks for both replies.
Is it known how complete MI records and death records are-ie. would every visible grave at Balmerino have been recorded (and therefore I wouldn't be likely to find any other Terras's if I visited) or is it all still a work in progress?
Thank you!

Jenny.
in the introduction to the book it says that it 'is a record of all known and accessible mi's'  these are for pre 1855 inscriptions.

on the small map for Balmarino which shows the grave positions there are obviously lots of gaps where grves are unable to be read/missing etc. the book also lists other sources where mi's have been found for Balmerino and includes them.
I think that you would not gain much by a visit sadly.

For 'scrumsrus'

What are your connections to the Bennetts and Halkerstons here in St Andrews?

I have a 'cousin' who married David Bennett son of David Bennett and Mary Halkerston.

Response appreciated

Aye mair questions than answers in a world where the past was a different place - that cannae be revisited!

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!
