Hhhm my knowledge of Aberdare is limited. With Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot there are many local history books (David Roberts mainly) which I find fascinating showing all regions of the locality. I am wondering if you will be able to find something similar. It may be worth your while going to a local bookshop in Aberdare to see what they have.

the only images I can see online of the area are here:

.............Found Genuki has lists of Publication for that region:

Thanks Jen,

I've seen the RCT site - its actually got a photo of the house where my Nain was born.

Getting to Aberdare is a bit difficult with me living abroad - If and when I do get to the UK its usually to visit my parents in north Wales. Unless they've got tickets for the rugby :-)

Oh I didn't realise you were living abroad. Hmm, North Wales to Aberdare! more than just a day trip then.

I cannot think of anything else for you but If I can help you at all in Swansea please let me know  ;D

Hi, at the moment I am working in this area and talking to local people, I will print out what I can and see what I come up with.  There is (and this not meant to insult) a village mentality about the area, all know who's who, so to speak.  A very friendly area, so I'll do my best.
Best wishes
Eileen
