Hi Kevin from Australia.I am looking for information on the history of my surname, Gubbins.My great grandfather Patrick married Ellen Collopy in the parish of Moroe in 1862 before coming to Australia.Thanks.

Hello Kevin... Sorry I don't know anything about the history of the name but in my tree I have a Catherine Gubbins who was born in Galbally, County Limerick circa 1846, she emigrated to Australia and married Timothy Griffin (Gold Miner) in Darnellys Creek, North Gippsland, Victoria on 9 April 1866 .. they went to New Zealand between 1867 and 1868....

Hi Kevin,
As a blow in who was born and raised in the village of Murroe I need to correct the spelling it is Murroe not Moroe  ;D
Have you tried the Griffiths Valuation which will hopefully show you where your Gubbins lived.

Karen, Gabally is quite a distance from Murroe.
