hi
i have found on the parish records a birth for henry anthony born 14th april 1844 in london colney herts, but cannot find it on ancestry beta nor fmd, henry died at 13 weeks old, his death seems to be registered, but would that give me his mothers maiden name, as i cannot find a marrage for his parents william anthony and maria although i suspect it was circa 1841
many thanks

Hi Marcie,

Death certificates don't give mother's maiden name - only birth ones.

You will get the informant - who could be anyone - although usually a close relative.

If you apply to the local office (not sure which one for Colney) - with the above details they should be able to find the birth certificate for you - more helpful than GRO - who need numbers only!!

Cheers

Keith

Hi Marcie
Had a look in parish records for London Colney, found the baptism and burial of Henry Anthony, but no sign of mother's maiden name  :'(  I also looked for the parents marriage between 1838-1848 but no sign of that either (well not in London Colney anyway!) :'( :'(
