John Jordan was my great-grandfather. Family rumour says that he married Mary Jane White, the daughter of the commander of Dover Castle, who was disowned by her family for marrying beneath her station.
They settled in Belfast, where I believe he worked in the shipyard, and had five children. Mary Jane died in 1944, but John died before 1922, having dropped dead in a tram on its way to (or from) the Ballinafoy (or Ballynafeigh) Turnpike.
