my uncles twin?
« on: Thursday 20 April 06 16:33 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the birth  details of my uncle, Robert Charles in Birmingham, around 1911 and that of his twin brother, whose name I don't know. The twin sadly died when only a few weeks old, but I cant even find the birth of Robert to begin to look for details of his unfortunate brother. Their parents were Amy Rose Charles(ne Harris) and John Frank Charles. Could someone help please?

Hi,

I've had a look at this website

https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/indexes/birthind.nsf/Search?OpenForm

I searched 1909-1913 and only 1 Robert Charles appeared. Having searched the GRO records there doesn't seem to be a twin or a link to your Robert.

Have you got Robert's birth certificate? Often if there were multiple births the time of the births were noted on the individual certificates. This is a good indicator of whether there was  another child.

Regards

Paula

Hello Paulalou,
I have no further information on my uncle at all. Well he married Edna Childs but I'm not sure when. There oldest son must have been born after me (1942) I do know he was in the RAF in India, so I will go and try from that angle. Most of the family are dead now so no-one left to ask. I was hoping I could find the two births together, but after trawlng for days I can't find a thing.
Many thanks for looking anyway

Hi Sushi

Do you know when/where your uncle died to perhaps get a clue from his death registration?

Hi there casalguidi,
He died in Swindon about 2 or 3 years back.  I found a Robert Frederick Charles b. 1913 on Ancestry.co.uk, the middle name rings a very small bell, but I wouldn't be sure.  I've just put a post on the Armed Forces forum to see if someone can find some record of him. That may say his DOB. !
Thanks for the interest,

do you know where he died? i'm currently looking at the GRO index on ancestry for 1983-2004. it gives peoples dates of births as well as when they died.

these are all the possible matches for a robert charles born 1906-1916 who died after 2000:

James Robert Charles, born 24 aug 1912, died may 2001 aged 88 in waltham forest, london

Robert Albert Charles, born 9 mary 1914, died jan 2000 aged 85 in thanet with dover, kent

Robert Frederick Charles, born 22 Oct 1916, died jul 2004 aged 87 in swindon, wiltshire

Robert Scott Charles, born 10 feb 1913, died aug 2004 aged 91 in ludlow, herefordshire/shropshire

Is that any help?
