Renton-Statio Street & Risk Street
« on: Thursday 20 April 06 19:26 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on the McGillie family who resided in Renton in the early 1900's. They lived at 23 Station Street. They moved to 42 Risk Street in the 1920's. Does anyone know if these houses are still in existance today and what the area is like???

Renton is quite a rough area but it is being revived with a local housing association building a lot of quality family homes.
There are some very nice houses within Renton but there is a lot of housing is 1930's council build too.
I dont know the streets - Station street I sould imagine is next to the station but the only Risk street I know is in Dumbarton.

Hi McGilleyclan

Just had a quick look at the greater Glasgow street atlas and there are 2 Risk Streets. 1 in Clydebank the other in Dumbarton.
It looks as though your address has suffered the demolition hammers as have so many areas since the building boom of the 1950's -60's.

Thank you so much for the info. Do you happen to know the names of the cemeteries in Renton?

I asked my partner (who is native to these parts) and it would be likely to be St Martins or the big cemetery in Alexandria (where I live - just along the road from Renton)
