Hi Jake,

I did request a search for information on my grandmother, but unfortunately they could find no records for her. There was a fee for the search ( £20 in 2004 ) and the request form had to be signed by my mother as closest living relative.

Hi Jake,

looking back at the letter they sent, there would have been additional £30 for an information pack if they found any details, but in my case they didn't trace my grandmother.

Ooough £55, Jake. That took my breath away :D Still I suppose with the National Lottery on a daily
basis, and people buying scratch cards, charities like Barnardos have to raise money somehow.

All the Best, Chris

i too am trying to get information about my great-uncle ,who was sent to Canada in 1903. i have filled in a request form,i have also sent them every movement on since he came out of the home.so all i want ,is the info on the years he spent in the home .which would be about 5 years.they better not try and con me out of that sort of money.BARNARDO'S are not as good as they make out ,i have dealt with them be for(there is plenty to read up about them ,you can't hide these days ).i am also trying to get them to give me information on my father and uncle ,who were sent to an industrial school in ireland ,they seem really slow to come back with anything. a lot of place's realy don't want the truth to come out about home children. the hardest ones i have found is the church. my mother was brought up in one ,well a convent that is . can i get anything on her life .i don't think so. have a read of paddy doyals web site .you will see what i mean. O.K. i have had my rant ,good luck with your search.
