1841 Census Liverpool - Francis Wunderly
« on: Wednesday 26 April 06 00:00 BST (UK) »
Hi all, Will SKS please help me locate my GG-grandfather. He was found on the 1851 Census living at House 6 Smith Street, Liverpool - part of the entry reads:
Francis Wonderley, lodger, widow, 45, clock maker, born GERMANY.
He was living with James HUNTER, 52, cabinet maker/Mary (wife) 53, and family, including a daughter Jane, 18, whom Francis later married.

I think I've found his first marriage - to Mary Grimshaw at Christ Church, Liverpool in 1844 - so this is the earliest date I have for Francis' existence in England. I have no idea where he was born in Germany or when he went to England.

Thank you in anticipation. Regards, Irene

Valda, Thank you so much for finding Francis. This is another step towards helping me to find his parents. I know his dad's name was Joseph (from Francis' marriage certificate), so now I can search Baden entries on familysearch.com.
Many, many thanks. Regards, Irene

I am conducting some research for a friend on the Wonderley's of Liverpool/Manchester. Francis (b abt 1810) is his great, great grandfather. I would be very interested in sharing my research.

Hi Irene,
My cousin and I are researching Francis Wonderley and the family.  Francis was our Great Great Grandfather... Mary Wonderley married John Hughes and had Harriet who was our Grandmother.

We would be happy to hear from you.  We are both living in Wirral in England.

Hi Bluebird 28, Welcome to Rootschat.
Francis Wunderley (previously Wunderlich) was my g-g-grandfather and married Jane Hunter in 1853, Liverpool. One of their children, Jane Elizabeth was my mum's grandmother, living in Salford.
How can I help?
Irene

Hi Garstonite,
Thanks for that website, and I've had a go at it but can't get anywhere. Will you please tell me how you got to the five trees.
Thank you, Irene

Hi.. thanks for your messages.... we have done a fair amount of research on the Wunderley/Wonderley family but my cousin would like to get in touch with you via e-mail to share information.  I have just read that I need to have written three posts before being able to PM so I need another one yet.. :)  Good to hear from you.
