A question
« on: Wednesday 26 April 06 01:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,
None of my JONES ancestors births or marriages appear on the IGI either online or at the local library.
How does one go about finding their births/marriagesa etc.
From 1851/1861 Census records I can find where they were born but am interested in locateing a marriage for my 3x gr grandparents between these Census so I can go back another generation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou,
Darren M Flowers

 Hello Darren
Try the following link ,access to which is free.
Use the  Free BMD Index which is not complete. but gives
brides and grooms on a particular page.If not sucessful use the BETA INDEX.
This can only be searched one name at a time.
EG. There is a marriage for a  Humphrey Jones September Quarter 1856 Neath 11a 624
on the BETA index ,which does not appear on The FREEBMD index.
If you know his wife`s Maiden name then look for a match in the quarter with the same reference

Hello Rhys,
THANKYOU THANKYOU
I typed Humphrey Jones' wife into the Beta index and up popped
Margaret DAVIES married September Quarter 1856 Neath 11a 624.
I have been looking for at least 25 years for either of there birth or a record of their marriage.
The three children they had in Wales before emigrating to Australia I also have not found but now you have given me the link to this site I am sure I will be able to locate all of the missing births that I need.
Through rootschat I have found a lot of information on my family tree but this would have to be the greatest find.
Thankyou very much. This is a happy day indeed.

A further thankyou.
I just found the birth for Humphrey and Margaret's daughter, Mary Jane JONES (my great grandmother)
at Neath in September Quarter 1861.
She wasn't on the 1861 Census so I am doubly happy now that I have found her birth.
Again many thanks for your help
