1901 Census, Lisburn
« on: Wednesday 26 April 06 20:42 BST (UK) »
:-*  I wonder if some kind soul could look up the 1901 Census for Lisburn, Blaris Parish for me.  I am interested in JAMES BANNISTER, Antrim Road, Lisburn.  Hopefully, he will turn out to be my elusive grandfather.  Regards, Rosemary

Thanks for that.  The info I have so far is this.  JOHN BANNISTER (father James, farmer) was a railway porter in Lurgan.  I suspect that he moved along the railway line with his job.  He married Mary Jane Clarke in 1851, and my grandfatherJAMES was born about 1858 - I know not where.  The only James Bannister, farmer I can find was farming in Lisnagarvy(Blaris) in 1864.  I have found a death of John Bannister in 1897in Lisburn and I wonder if he returned to Lisburn to work.  Any information would be extremely welcome.  Rosemary

Thanks Audrey.  I shall keep it on file.  It didn't give father's occupation did it?  Rosemary

Thanks again Audrey.  I think they might be cousins of my grandfather.  Looking through my file, there were a lot of Bannisters in Derriaghy Parish.  Maybe I should post on the Antrim Board.  Rosemary
