Looking For Advise

Can any one help i believe i have found my 4xgrandmother in the 1841 census all it says is Jane Hamilton aged 80yrs born East Lothian address Jamesons Close my guess is she wouldnt have lived that much longer is there any way i can find her death i realise it is before offical records but it may help fit another piece in the puzzel Thanks harriet

Jameson's Close where? There should be a town or village mentioned.

If so, try tp find if there are any memorial inscriptions (MI) for that area or death records. Some may exist even if before 1855.

Jameson's Close is in Dunbar Burgh so there should be a parish graveyard in the town itself.

On FreeCen she is down as Jean Hamilton. Living alone.
There are no likely looking family in the closes on either side of her.

The best way to try to establish her death would be to look at the OPR films either at your nearest LDS genealogy Centre or the archives in Edinburgh. I don't know if Musselburgh or Haddington have copies. You would have to start at 1841 and work your way forward   Unless, that is, you find a graveyard entry or MI for her.  They are not always accurate for dates though. Best check against the OPR.

Thanks for that yes you are right i have the film number to order and go and check it out in the nearest Family History Centre Cheers harriet
