St Peter's Church Bolton le Moors
« on: Friday 15 October 04 23:30 BST (UK) »
I'm confused!

John Tattersall married Maria Bridge at this church 14 July 1834 (according to IGI).  However, according to a potted history of Bolton, the church was not consecrated until the mid 1870's.

Is there more than one church of this name in Bolton?
Hampshire -  Lewis & Mitchell & Hutchins
Lancs - Tattersall & Dillon
Wilts - Vockins, Chapman, Alexander
Fairground Travellers - Dillon Family

St Peter's parish church was rebuilt in the late 1860s and the new church building was consecrated on 29 Jun 1871 (St Peter's day).  However there has been a church on the site since at least the 13 th century and probably earlier.

Although I'm not a regular churchgoer I went to a carol service there last Christmas - a friend of mine is a minister at the church - and had a look at the various displays of historical items there - very interesting.

Hi Hilary

Many thanks for your reply.  I should have thought of that one!
