Hello ele,

Have you made any progress since you posted this message in October 2004 ??? That's over two and a half years ago.

It may be difficult to find your McQuade family as you have not given precise dates nor a townland.

I looked at the online extracts of Griffith's Valuation of Co. Monaghan 1858 - 1860 and found just one McQuade ... You won't get much more from the Valuations as they give the head of household only.

James McQuade, Corvally, Tehallan, Monaghan

This may be the townland where your ancestors lived but it's hard to confirm as it's several years after the dates you gave. In fact, James of Corvally, may well be the father of Francis as I note you've allowed a thirty year time span for the date of the birth of James.

Thanks Christopher for the check.

No I have made no progress on my McQuades, hit a brick wall then our new little addition to the family gives me no spare time (bubby boy, Fintan, born 18 Feb 2007).. I'm eager to get back into the swing of things, but Fintan is not unfortunately.. maybe in several months.

Thanks for looking. Happy searching. Ele..

Hi Ele,

I hope Fintan, yourself and the rest of your family are keeping well.

I've linked your The Gorbals, Glasgow (a place) thread which makes things slightly easier to follow. It might do no harm posting on Glasgow Forum as there may be members on that site who are not Rootschatters.
