Dear All

This is my first time on Rootschat and am looking for any info on the Strange family from Westleigh and the Wrights of Pennington both in Leigh, especially first part of 19th cen.

If anybody has any info I would be very grateful.

Do you have any specific names and dates? (even approx!) Then we could look for them on census, etc.

My sister found the name Wright in our family tree, they are from Stoneclough, if you are interested.

Children of Elenor Isherwood are:
Elizabeth Wright, b. 1852, Stoneclough
Hannah Wright, b. 1854, Stoneclough.
Sarah Ann Wright, b. 1846, Stoneclough

Oh dear I have just typed out a long explanation of what I am looking for and it seems to have disappeared on cyberspace.

Jan54 I am sorry but I don't know where Stoneclough is but if it is not in Leigh I don't think it's the one I want, but thank you anyway.
The man I want is Marlborough Wright who had a reedmaking business on King Street Pennington. He died before 1843. If anyone has any info about him or his family I would be very grateful.

Hello there

Couldn't find him on 1841 census but did find on IGI:

CHRISTENINGS
Marlborough Wright, 28 August 1790 - Leigh
Marlborough Wright, 18 May 1793 - Leigh
Parents for both are Owen Wright/Susan

MARRIAGE
Marlborough Wright/Ann Strange, 3 December 1813 - Leigh

Found these 2 'Strange' families in 1841.

HO107/513/14 Page 1 - Strange Common, Westleigh

Richard Strange 50, Farmer
Betty 50
Mary 25
John 25

All born in county

HO107/513/4 Page 2 - Stranges, Westleigh

Adam Strange 50, Farmer
Christopher 35

Both born in county

Also this looks like it could be one of yours.
