Warburton
« on: Friday 28 April 06 20:07 BST (UK) »
Help needed please to explain why the name Warburton appears on the birth certificates of my grandfather, George Harding and his brother, Alfred (1866/69) Their mother's maiden name was Sarah Newton and their father was Henry Harding. On their elder sisters' birth certificates she was named as Sarah Harding, formerly Newton but on theirs she was Sarah Warburton Harding, formerly Newton. Sarah was a spinster when she married Henry and her mother's maiden name was Hayes not Warburton. The family lived in Droylsden and then Romiley/Bredbury.

Hi

    Welcome to rootschat  :)

Its possible the mystery can only be solved in the area where Sarah Newton was born, you should post again on the Lancashire board.

It is possible the Warburton came from her fathers side. It really needs someone with the Lancashire resources.
