Ok, ok so you all got it cheaper than me! :-\ :-\

I don't care, I still think it is very good value for the amount I use the site and it is still just over £1 a week, still less than a pint a week!!

What's a pint cost in the UK these days?
Last time I bought one, £1.85 :P
That was for Strongbow in the Student Union. ;D

Yes but be warned Caz
Not everyone will think it joyful.  My husband and kids are planning a mutiny.  They are not sharing my thrill at finding, children I never knew about, new lines to enquire into and all the fun stuff my month of wall to wall genealogy is bringing me.  I'm in heaven, but the natives are restless... :P

Being new to genealogy research,(and knowing no better) ,when the Nat Archives site  eventually was up and running, I bought my credits and searched for my grandad.

I knew his address, wife, daughters.sons .The lot.

Absolutely nothing came up for the names of any of the 5.,so I reverted to the address . That took ages and a lot of credits  ,as although I had visited the road many times , I only knew the house  position in relation to an adjoining street

Cost me a fortune to eventually find the entry.and the names etc. are sharp and clear.

Just to see, I recently went back to the Nat. Archives site and still their names don't come up.
Ancestry has been great , not perfect, but no rip off.

Well, from what i've read in these threads, the general consensus of opinion agrees that ANCESTRY is reasonable  value for money and it is.

My original moan was about the National Archives 1901 on line which works out at roughly  £1.00  a look!!!

Carrying on with this thread i've just had an email from 1837 on line with an 'offer?' Of a years access to BMD records for £50.00. but only the BMD, not anything else.

They say that this is an earlier offer that has been extended.
Worth it or not??  Poli

Polidor

I had the same offer and I decided to take it up because I tend to use 1837 for BMD more than Ancestry because they seem to have better coverage.

I may be stupid and wasting my money but I would probably be using the site a lot throughout the year anyway and this way it saves me some money!
