Hi Steve

You will need to supply LOTS more information to get a reply that you can rely on!

Where is your information from?  What were his parents' names?  Any idea where in Carmarthenshire he was born?  Have you found him in any census?

Both these names are "popular" in this part of the world and you would want to make sure you have the correct family.

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

And there is a possible man-servant in Oystermouth in 1841 (living in, so no wife present)

Hi again

It looks as though Jane has given the correct census details above then, which means you are looking for information from Carmarthenshire for the parents' births.

Do you have any idea when/ where they married?

A hawker was an itinerant sales person, perhaps door-to-door.

There is another family, possibly same on 1841 at High Street, Swansea;
David age 28 occ; tailor not born in county
Mary age 25 not born in county
Jane age 2 born in county
Margaret age 6 born in county
Mary age 2months born in county
Thomas age 4 born in county.
If we knew what he was a hawker of, could prove to be the right family.
Cant find any marriage, so looks like they married before 1837, going by eldest child c.1835, I'd check parish records (would try both Swansea and Carmarthen though)

This looks like David's wife & family in 1841 - indicating an even earlier marriage:

HO107/1426/5/20/32

Maria EVANS 25 - N
James 7 - N
Jane 2 - Y
Silvie LINDSY 35 - Y

(this is muddled - the neighbours are surname SILVY - Martha 20, Joseph 1 and Maria 5)

Address: High St, Swansea
