And if I remember correctly, the 2001 census did not ask for places of birth.  I took a copy of the schedule that we completed (can't lay my hands on it just at the moment) for my own family history.  I also know that my neighbour never completed a form because she was not in when the enumerator called round and the enumerator did not post one through the letter box.  Makes you wonder, does it not?

More recently the census information isn't available due to the data protection act we have in Britain. You have to remember that not everyone wanting the information is a genealogist.

Unless you're planning to live to 2101 you're just going to have to accept that telephone directories and electoral registers (both online) are your only source of information.
