If you could help me, i'm looking for John Edward finch b 1815 Croydon,
on 1861 census he was living at 40 Addiscombe Rd Croydon with wife Catharine, daughter Catharine 22.
He was a private gardener, is it possible to find out if there was any large houses near him where he could of worked,

Hello,

If you are still doing lookups at Croydon library, I wonder if you could help me.
I have been trying to find a copy of the Croydon Times on 12th August 1953.  A relative in the name of  Alice Maud(nee Nash) known to family as just Maud and her husband, Arthur Carter are in this issue. I would like to know what the article is all about. I unfortunately do not know anything else about them.

I found the Croydon Library online and found that they have holdings from June 1861-1967 of the Croydon Times.  Acquistion:PER1098  Control No:X000739234
Location: Central Level 3 Category: Local Studies Library.
I emailed the library and they sent me an automatic response and gave me another email address to use if I wished to get in touch again.  I contacted them several times but never received a reply.
Would you be able to look up this article for me?  I live in Australia and so I cannot do research in person.

I would appreciate any help at all.

Further to one of your posts (which I've part copied below).  Would you be able to look up details listed for Blenkinsop - it's listed as number 87, and a Lawson is also listed as number 87.  I would be interested in any information you can find.

( As well as the resources listed in the first mail of this thread there is also a useful little book on irregular marriages at Annan.  MAny of these are runaway marriages from England.

I have transcribed the index and attached it below.  The number is the number of the entry in the book so this will tell you, for example, if an ANDERSON married a FERGUSON yes number 161.  Let me know the number and I'll get the entry.

I don't know if this offer is still good but just wondering if you could look up CHARLOTTE W LOVETT she married GEORGE HENRY DARBY.They had no children.

Hello Derbs,   

When/if  you can, please look up Louis (or Lewis) CLEMENT  {or he might use name Clement Wright} in South Norwood or Thorton Heath, Croydon. Marriage in 1882 & children born 1883 - 1898 recorded as born Croydon.
