1871 +1861 census
« on: Sunday 17 October 04 00:24 BST (UK) »
Good evening . I am looking for the family of Evan and Mary       Davies in the 1871 and 1861  census. They should have a son Howell aged about 10yrs old.[1871censu]s and about 3 months in the 1861 census Howell was born Treleach in registration District Conwil. Occupation of Evan in 1861 was General Labourer. Any assistance appreciated. Thankyou Alun.

Hi Alun,
I have been looking through the bishop's records for Llanfihangel Ystrad. I have to go back to finish but I have found birth entries for 3 of the children of Evan and Mary Davies:
David & John (twins) - 5th July 1818 at Clynglas
Mary                          - 14th April 1820 at Clynglas

Evan Davies was a labourer

Why I am interested is that my Rees family have a strong connection with Clynglas, Cribyn.

On the same film, David Rees of Clynglas died at the age of 84 in 1822. The Rees family are also living at Clynglas in the 1841 and 1851 Census. I don't know where they all went after that. Also, there is a reference to a David Rees in the 1790s from Clynglas, Cribyn who married Bridget James and then lived in Bontnewydd. I have yet to sort out the lines.

Also, the David Rees in the 1841 Census married a Mary Davies.
Can you help sort out this tangle?

Sue
