Marriages at St Peters, Phibsboro
« on: Tuesday 02 May 06 13:48 BST (UK) »
My great-great-grandmother Anne Bowden was Irish, probably born in Drogheda in 1826. Her husband Joseph Frith was English. They were married at St Peters in Phibsboro, Dublin on 21 June 1847 according to the rites and ceremonies of the United Church of England and Ireland. The two witnesses William Hutchinson and Elizabeth Worthington both had English-sounding names. Anne and Joseph had their first child in England in September 1848. I think Anne had already left Ireland, met Joseph in England, then came back again to her homeland just to get married.

My question is, did St Peters have a reputation for allowing 'quick marriages'?
