Thanks Cu, I will look out for that.  I've been watching 'missing' (also on bbc1 in the morning) a little bit, but it upsets me too much to see these soul destroyed people who don't know where their loved ones are.

Some of the registers of London churches have baptisms of many children found by the church door. And the choice of names given to such children are predictable. A boy found found by St.Thomas church - baptized Thomas Church.  Finding your ancestor listed in such a way would be both sad and final so far as research goes.

I was ploughing through a film of the registers of Gamston, Nottingham the other day.  The then Rector wrote clearly and precisely, but one entry recorded a burial of "a stranger, passing through."  This made me feel really sad.  A person buried without their name, unmourned at the time and hidden forever from any descendants who might be looking for him/her.

When I was looking at Westbury on Severn parish register the other day. There were so many Strangers found dead in the river. The must of been some ones love one. The register did try and give an rough age and where they were found. So sad.

I really enjoyed this. I feel so sad for the ones left not knowing who their Mother was, but how Wonderful that brother and sister meet. Then the other two sisters who meet too. I wonder why some women leave one or more of their children like that. :'(
