Hi Gadget , recieved a death cert yesterday for a Myfanwy!! and it gives the name and address of husband Gwilym Evan Jones and the address as  Dudleston Heath Ellsmere. I've looked in vain so far for a marriage for these 2 but have nothing to go on really. Tried a whole range of dates from her 20's to her 30's and nothing.
I think i'm flying here on a wing and a prayer, Myfanwy, i feel, will remain one of my brick walls---but---i will take up your suggestion re obit notices and 'you never know' ;) Poli

Hi Poli

If it was Duddleston Heath, it might be in the Oswestry Advertizer as well.  If so, the Oswestry Local Studies Library may have it indexed. I'll PM you with the e-mail address that I use  ;)

Myfanwy is still a lovely piece of music though  :) I presume you don't have this Gwilym in your tree?

Hi again, i do have a Gwilym/William  in my tree. However, he was an Evans & i have him b1862 & married off.
There is a Jones family creeping up on me tho'.William's sister Sarah Evans married into a Jones family. William comes up as Gwilym in a couple of census, he obviously has a Welsh/English change of heart at each census!!

The photo of 'Myfi' Bangor is haunting me, i just hope i'm still around when the 1911 census comes out, that should clear a few things up i hope.

For our next generation of researchers it will be even more difficult what with all the couples nowadays living together, 2nd marriages galore and babies before marriage although that has been around a looooong time.

Thanks for the p.m.  Poli

Gadget you wouldn't credit it-----wrote the last post, decided to flick through he 'old' photos again and realised that one i had looked at loads of times had "cousin Gwilym" on the back. This means that my mum had an uncle, the above mentioned William/Gwilym Evans and a cousin Gwilym. Will look for a G Jones now--wish me luck ;D

Wish you loads and load of Luck Poli  :D :D :D

Duddleston Heath is not far from where I grew up - equidistant from Wrexham, Denbighshire and Oswestry, Shropshire on the back roads.
So Myfanwy was possibly your mother's Auntie or cousin (in law)  ;)

Another road to go down!

Recieved an obituary notice from Oswestry today re the death cert for one, Myfanwy Jones.

Lovely long obit, dozens of family names but---SHE'S NOT MINE !!!!!

Gutted,--- :'( :'( all those names and not one of them mine o'h dear, o'h dear.

Yes, the death cert date was a few days out from the date on the back of Myfanwy's photo but i still hoped [as you do] that i might be on the right track ::)

Well,  soldier on i suppose ;D  Poli

Aw that's sad Poli  :(

But you did get an obituary of someone and someone may claim her. And they're lovely people at Oswestry Library  :)

Hi Paul,

I worked backwards with your Myfanwy dates and looked for births in 1904 for both my main surnames Hughes & Evans.

I found 1 birth for each surname  in 1904, both in Bangor & remembering that the back of Myfanwy's photo had Bangor written on it.
so---i then looked through the marriages of both Myfanwy Hughes and Myfanwy Evans to a Mr. Williams between 1924 & 1930 [cross eyed after that lot!!!]
Anyhow---nothing for the Evans name but a marriage in 1927 between a Myfanwy Hughes & somebody Williams.

Now should i send for A. the possible Death cert.
B the possible birth cert or
                                   C the possible marriage cert.

Can't think which is the shortest route to find out which part of my Welsh relatives she comes from. All i need now of course is to find out she was a neighbour ;D  Poli
