where do i find info for pre 1841

Hi.. i am sorry to be a nuisance.. this site is brilliant.. ive got lots of help from different people.. things had got pretty tough.. pieced together  now back till John Dummer .. confusion over his birth.. not to say the least.
    In the 1841 census it says he was born Bristol .. aged 60.. there were no Dummers born in Bristol .. ive been advised that he could have stopped there on his way to margam.. fine.. BUT.. i cant find .Elizabeth  Davids birth .. either .. b margam (aged 56 on 1841 census)i cant find any records on family search ..for there births/marriage(although am told thet got married  1823..Their childrens births are in the family search records.. i would really like to solve this one.. and wonder ..please.. is there anyone who might be able to help..

Hello,
I am afraid that pre 1841 you will have to consult parish records for the area that he may of been born. I am sure if you visit the Glamorgan family history centre they will be able to help locate the parish and possibly the records. On the 1851(a Glam FHS publication)that i have it stated quite clearly that he was born in Margam so i would begin your search there.
 
p.s) from previous experience the 1841 census has a lot of mis-information, ages are even rounded up to the nearest 5 i believe once the person was over a certain age.

I have glam marriages up to 1837.  post names, poss parish any info you know will see if they are there.

Ju if you go onto the site Register of one name studies someone had done extensive research on the Dummers including The Welsh Dummers .His email address is on there also his website with a mention of your John also a book and cd can be purchased.Best Wishes Welsh Lady

Just checked there are 4 marriages for John Dummer all Margam area from 1774 to 1827, looks like it could be family/parents.

Have pm'd the info, also have 1841, do you want me to check for families against the marriages?  There are at least 2 when I checked earlier, all born in county not Bristol.

             .. ive been tumbling things  around in my head over the dummers.. ive come to the conclusion that john junior might have been a son of john juniors.. i cant find a birth record though for either of them..
is there any where ..or any way that can be checked please.. do you know? i would love to go back further with  my search.. but have come to a standstill.. thanks again.. takecare..jui
