where do i find info for pre 1841

Checked the IGI link, the only dates for Margam are christenings 1814 - 1875.

Pre registration you will need Parish records as Badgirl mentioned, as far as I am aware Glam records office hold most if not all that are available.

Also the info Welshlady posted is excellent, in relation to another researcher of the Dummer name.  Perhaps he may have the info you need, worth contacting.

On the 1841 it states all born in county but it is not unusual for there to be differences or even error on census in 1851 his birthplace is stated Bristol.

Ah i got confused with the two John's. As Cas has said, the eldest John Dummer in 1851 is stated as being born Somerset, Bristol and is aged 79 where as the other is born Margam aged 48. Confusion over for me.

Hi.. Thankyou  to You all who have helped on this one.. i contacted Michael Dummer  who wrote back.. confiming John Dummer  senior and junior were father and son.... looks like i can tie up loose ends over this side of the tree.. my next mission will be the David family.. as John senior married two ladies .. by the surname of David.. both born Pyle glamorgan.. goodluck to you all.. and thankyou again....xx
