Oh Carol, I was just at the library looking up census information on 1871.  Next time I go I can check for you. 

But, you were not far from my mind, I found this in a book of marriages

Thomas Abbs, Toronto married Mary Stonehouse of Etobicoke, March 20, 1856, Witnessess Ann Stonehouse and Joseph Stonehouse.  Wesleyan Methodist Minister.

I have been wondering about them. Haven't found a Joseph in my tree yet.

There is a death registration for Joseph Stonehouse who is the son of Joseph Stonehouse and Hannah Stonehouse in 1931.  He was born in Ontario and was 70 years old when he died.  This Joseph's wife was Amelia and they lived in Toronto on Weston Road.

Just found a death for Joseph Stonehouse in 1908.  Born in England, died 8th Ave., Woodbridge (just outside Toronto), he was 83 years old.  No parents listed.

The only Joseph i have found was b 1783 Lythe. The more i hunt the more i find. The Stonehouse family in Canada is growing fast. I have now found another lot in Brigden. Looks like they are invading Canada. I started off with my Mum telling me a Christopher Stonehouse b 1872( her great Uncle ) took his family to Canada. Guess what he died in England. After his death some of his family went. But now i find that others went well before the 1930's.
