Hi Paula

Could you tell me his mother's name?

I'm having trouble finding him in 1881 or 1891, so his mother may have married and he might be listed under her married name.

And there's more ...

1881 West Ham, Essex (London)
RG11/1704 folio 57 page 54
14 Cullum Street
James Noble, head, 22, iron moulder, Brentwood Essex
Mary A do., wife, 21, Norwich
Ellis [sic] do., son, 5, Brentwood
Florence do., daur, 4, Brentwood
Robert J do., son, 3, Brentwood
Harriet do., daur, 1, Chelmsford
Jessie do., daur, 4 mo., Stratford

"Ellis" is obviously Louis - an error by the Census enumerator!

It remains to be seen whether James Noble was Louis's father.  (But because of James and Mary's ages, I'd say it's a good guess!)

PS:  Bet you're pleased you joined now  ;D
