Stop press! No need for the marriage cert as far as Frederick is concerned :D

There are army papers for a Frederick Rolfe who married a Lily Hawkridge on June 24 1916 at Michaels Nottingham.

Still unmarried when he enlisted on 25th march 1916, he gave the following details about himself:

Frederick Rolfe, 28 Patterson Rd Nottingham. Age 37 years 10 months, occupation Marble Polisher. Height 5 feet 2 inches. Next of kin Alfred Rolfe, father, 24 Forest Street Hyson Green Nottingham.

Leter added particulars concerning children show:
Arthur Edward born 27/2/1917 Nottingham
James Hawkridge 17/2/1912 (illegitimate)
 "My dear, I think the English pronounce it 'appiness"
