Leeds ca.1790 advice on parents pls
« on: Monday 15 May 06 07:26 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone, :D

I have 2 branches of DEAN in my family history. What I know of the above James DEAN is:

Married 20 March 1824 to Esther MORTIMER Batley Parish Church. Cert.No.659. Witnesses: Joseph DEAN and John ROBERTS.

The research I had done on this person was just from IGI and censuses and that led me to a father by the name of James, mother Susannah BROOKSBANK. They had children named James, (who I took to be 'mine')  Elisabeth, Martha, William, Thomas and Henry - no Joseph and not Joseph as the father.

Have I got the wrong parents? I think so.

I also have a burial of James DEAN 22 Feb 1855 St.Mark, Woodhouse. This sounds right as Marie was a widow on the 1861 census.

Esther died in 1831 and James then married Marie COUPLAND. I have them in 1841 and 1851 census. By 1861 James is dead as Marie is shown as Widow. From the age shown in the 1851 Census he would have been born 1792/3 Woodhouse. But I don't know how accurate this would have been.

Any ideas, advice or help would be much appreciated.
