Pheasey 1881 census
« on: Monday 15 May 06 13:42 BST (UK) »
I need help with the meaning of an occupation in the 1881 census
Household of MARGARET PHEASEY Moss Side Manchester
one of her children SARAH PHEASEY unmarried age 19 occupation   phrenthographer ( S Wm)
I cannot find this word anywhere.
If someone has access to Ancestry.com who could look at the original to check the spelling please.

Hi

I have looked at the original and the spelling you gave is correct except for the first letter which I think could also possibly be mistaken for an S as well as a P.  Looking at other entries on the image, there is a photographer boarding with them and her brother was a printer

I have looked through my Early Occupations guide but can't see anything that looks like it.

Having looked at the page I wonder if it was the enumerators misspelling of stenographer? :) :)

Hi, Nessie and CaroleW.
Thank you for having a look at the spelling for me.
It will remain a mystery.
Thanks again, Mrs. G
