1851 Census Winfrith
« on: Tuesday 19 October 04 12:39 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
Does anybody have access to the 1851 census? I'm looking for William Cox a shoes maker and his daughter Mary Ann. Mary Ann would be apx 22/23, there could also be another daughter at home-Emmiline she would be around 20 yrs old.
The only information I have at the moment is that Mary Ann married in 1852 in Winfrith, and Emmiline was a witness.
I have tried the OPC site but to no avail :'( can anybody help?
Thanks
Ange

Hi Ange,

I was on Dorset OPC tonight, so I thought I'd check for any new data.  Nothing for the 1851 Winfrith census, but while you were checking the Dorset OPC site did you find these entries ?

Winfrith Newburgh
NAME INDEX FOR BAPTISMS 1731-1880 AND MARRIAGES 1731-1846

SURNAME;  Forename, Date of Event; Event; Notes
COX;     William ;     1820;     Marr;     Spouse:  Mary Cole SPICER
COX;     William John ;     1821;     Baptism;     Parents: William & Mary
COX;     Emmiline Matilda ;     1831;     Baptism;     Parents: William & Mary

Looks like your "about 20" would be "exactly 20"  :)

could the other two be the parents marriage and an older brother ?

Bob
