Arthur URWIN dob  and pob unknown married Frances Harriet Rose Hannah HILL(Daughter of William and Frances Harriet Rose Hannah HILL -nee Bodley)
1908 Romford Ilford
Had
1. Irene Muriel born 1908? and married ...INMAN
2. Marjorie Evelyn b 1909 Romford married ...BAINS
3. Dora Winifred  who married ....SAMMON (SALMON)
4. Elsie who married ....ELKINGTON
5. Robert Victor b 1919 d 1996 (death registered at Redbridge)

Do not have a dob for children number 1, 3 and 4.
Frances apparently died 'young'- but obviously was 1919 onwards.She was born 1889 Wandsworth.
No further information on the family.

Ther are several immediate candidates for Arthur Urwin.
The most likely on age and geography(IN 1901 ) is :
15-y-old, a draper's assistant in Marylebone OR
19-y-old Pawnbroker's assistant in Ilford.

The 1908 marriage record will tell you more if you want to work backwards in time.

Hi Pauline
Once again my thanks for your help. I think that the only way I am going to be able to go backwards and confirm dob for Arthur would be to get the marriage cert.
However I also want to go forward  to find when Frances died and where she was buried and anything on the children and descendants.Of course one aim is to make contact with distant relatives and the other is to fill in the gaps.
Will trace the census 1901 to gather the info on the 2 Aarthurs you have mentioned.

Have found death for Frances Harriet Rose Hannah URWIN- registered Romford in 1923.
Also found births for :
Dora Winifred in 1916 Romford - she married ...SAMMON ..and died in 1992
Robert Victor birth registered Whitechapel 1919 born 7 Jan- died 1996. married ??
Herbert R -birth registered Whitechapel 1920 married? died?
Irene Muriel-married .... Inman -have a death for Irene Muriel Inman- in 1998- but gives dob of 1922 and I can't find her in the 1922s.
Elsie and Marjorie Evelyn- nothing new on them thus far.

Can anyone help with where I might find birth for Irene Muriel. - Elsie married ....Elkington and Marjorie Evelyn married .... Bain

If you can't find her in the 1922's then simply expand the search years in the GRO indexes.

If she STILL isn't there, then ask the office local to where you believe she was born to check their records, (in case her entry did not make it to the national index)

Hi Pauline
Nice to hear from you again-have just gone over the 1922s and found her.Retraced all I did last night and this afternoon-under Female mothers maiden  name Hill in Whitechapel. Will have to go through all the indexes from 1909 to 1923(disregarding the ones where I have found the other children) looking for Elsie- I don't have a middle name for her. She will be in either Romford or Whitechapel I assume.
Gosh the extra time that has been taken in transcribing and adding the mothers maiden name to the indexes is a big help.
Have also found death for Herbert R.

Update:

Have found birth for Elsie Registered 1912 Romford and for Marjorie Evelyn 1909 Registered Romford.

Still haven't found death for Arthur or a re marriage.
Wife's burial place remains unknown-as Barkingside wasnt opened then where would the likely cemeteries be?
