Hi Aileen
I do hope you can help me out with Francis lamb I have no idea when he was born and can't get back any further. In 1866 they lived in Brewery Street.  He was a jeweller.                                                                                              Carol

Hi Carol,
Hope you don't mind me butting in but I think I have found your Francis on the 1871 census.

It looks as though Mary Ann had died and Francis is a lodger and his son, Francis, is with his grandparents, the Gregorys. No sign of Frederick.

Here are the details:
Birmingham..Bishops Rider Dist.
Moloma St.
Shore Household
Francis Lamb   Lodger  Wid  35  Jeweller        Warwicks, Birmingham

Aston, Duddeston Dist.

281 Great Lister St.
John Gregory  Head  62    Wheelwright      Staffordshire, Penkridge
Frances Gregory  Wife  63                           Staffs, Chebsy?
John Gregory   Son 24    Wheelwright         Warks, Duddeston
Francis Lamb   Gson  7                                  Warks, Duddeston (Aston)
RG10/3147/  Folio 37  Page 16

Now that we know that Francis Sr, was born in Birmingham. I took a peek on the 1851 Warwickshire census and I think that this is him at home with his family.
This is the only Francis of the right age...born in Birmingham.

Emma J.  LAMB   Daur   -   11   F   Glass Maker   Birmingham-WAR

PRO Reference:   HO/107/2059   Folio:   375   Page:   36   FHL Film:   0332122

There is a christening record on IGI for this Francis.

Hope this all helps.
Cheers,
India in California

Hi India in California
Thanks for your help. It certainly looks like my Francis Lamb on the 1871 census. I wonder where Frederick was maybe he was with his other grandparents.

Hi
They had a daughter Louisa born 1861. Could someone look up the 1861 census for Francis and Mary Ann.  They were living in Hampton Street in 1862. She was christened at St. George.
                                                Thanks.

Hi All
I don't seem to be able to find Francis Lamb after the 1871 census. He was 35 and a border.
His occupation a Jeweller.

His two sons, Francis 19 and Frederick 16 are borders at 2 back 17 Snape Street, Birmingham, 1n 1881.  There's no sign of Francis senior and I don't know when he died.
If anyone can help find him I will appreciate it.
                              Carol

There's this death on FreeBmd, though the age is a little bit out (the 1851 census would give him a birth in around 1833 so 45 in 1878)

Deaths Mar 1878
Lamb    Francis    49    Aston    6d   288

Bev

EDIT
Maybe not as this Francis's will is online and his executor was his brother, called Charles.
Weedon - Hertfordshire and W. Australia
Herbertson, Congalton, Paterson - Scotland
Reed, Elmer - Hunts.
Branson - Bucks. and Birmingham
Warren, Ball, Jones - Birmingham
Fuller, Bourne, Sheepwash - Kent
Brittain - Beds. and W. Australia
